Start with a clear opening list
A door schedule gives each opening an identifier and puts its requirements in one place. If your project has drawings, send the current revision and note which buildings, floors, or phases are included.
Details to collect
- Opening number and location.
- Door width, height, thickness, material, and finish.
- Frame material, profile, jamb depth, and wall type.
- Handing and swing direction.
- Hardware set, function, and finish.
- Specified performance or rating requirements.
- Quantity and project phase.
Define the work around the opening
For installation, note whether the work is new construction or replacement. Identify demolition, disposal, wall repair, painting, electrical work, and access restrictions separately. A clear boundary around each task helps prevent gaps between trades.
If your schedule is still developing
Start with what you have. A count of openings, project location, a few photographs, and your target schedule can begin the discussion. Do not treat unverified measurements as fabrication dimensions.
